About the event
Arise takes its name from Jesus’ words to Jairus’ daughter. When the little girl was near death, her father Jairus begged Jesus to come and heal her. When they arrived, they were told the child had died, but Jesus insisted on going to her. Then, “Taking her by the hand he said to her, ‘Tal’itha cu’mi’; which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise’” (Mark 5:41 RSV-CE).
